The Hill Mens Shed at Castle Hill is part of a nation-wide non-profit organisation committed to breaking the cycle of social isolation and loneliness facing older men.
Our shed is outfitted with tools and equipment so men can work and create as they choose, pursue their hobbies and interests, talk to one another and become friends. Research has shown that shedders live longer, healthier, happier lives.
Not all Mens Sheds are the same – if you looked inside our shed you might see a number of men making furniture, restoring bicycles for a local school, making bird traps, painting, fixing lawn mowers or making a cubby house. Other men just spend a few hours in the lunch room talking.
Safety is paromount and we provide safety and operational training for all dangerous equipment, in fact you cannot use equipment until you complete a short operational checkout. This is not like school; we just want you to go home with all your fingers.
